RN OR Circulator, FT & PRN

ESSENTIAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides circulating nurse services in the operating room during surgical or pain management procedures and assists the surgical team as needed in any other capacity, according to established procedures. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
ï‚§ Supervises and directs patient care in the individual operating or procedure rooms
ï‚§ Performs all circulating duties with efficiency and speed
 Ensure patient’s emotional, physical and psychological needs are met
ï‚§ Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.
ï‚§ Supervises and assists scrub technician as necessary
ï‚§ Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart, and reporting of changes in condition
ï‚§ Performs scrub duties as necessary
ï‚§ Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment
ï‚§ Assists the anesthesiologist/CRNA as necessary
ï‚§ Documents all nursing care delivered concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
ï‚§ Performs other nursing duties as assigned
ï‚§ Maintains established policies and procedures for the department and facility
ï‚§ Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business
ï‚§ Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other Center employees
ï‚§ Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and Center business
ï‚§ Understands and maintains clinical competencies (general, age specific and medication administration)
ï‚§ Ability to adequately assess, diagnose, plan and implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient condition
ï‚§ Compliance with the attendance policy
ï‚§ Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs
ï‚§ Practices nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and accepts responsibility and accountability for own actions
ï‚§ Possesses appropriate communication skills to practice collaborative nursing
 Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and /or the patient’s condition changes
ï‚§ Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice
ï‚§ Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of a shool of professional nursing

EXPERIENCE: Operating Room experience requred. Spine and Ortho experience required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Active RN license in the state of practice required. CNOR desirable. Active BLS and ACLS.
